Ipod Nano Vs Ipod Classic

Hope i'm posting this in the correct forum. I'm looking for some advice.

I'm about to buy an ipod nano from argos as your getting a free docking station worth £50 and i've been told it's a great deal. Total cost is £129 for the ipod nano 8gb and the docking station.

Is this a good deal is the docking station good quality? I've never bought an mp3 player but have wanted one for a long time and think now is the time to buy one. I have a lot of music on my computer way more than 8gb but i dont know if i would put so much on my ipod i think i'd use it more for videos. For this reason i was thinking of getting the classic 80gb Ipod but am unsure of the differences? Can anybody help me out with the differnces and also has anybody got any of these ipods and can let me know there views? Is it worth getting the 8gb for the docking station? I have no problem moving music between the mp3 player when i'm fed up with what i'm listening to and i also think it's possible to compress the music to get double?

Thanks all advice would be great :)

  • I think the docking station you are referring to is just a set of speakers which turn the ipod into a small stereo and is also available for the classic in the deal too.

There is a proper dock available fro the ipod at argos for a clearance price of about a tenner, which is a nice addition, but far from being a necessity.

I would go for the classic to be honest, you get a slightly bigger screen and WAY more storage, if video is your thing you will quickly eat into the 8gig.

But then again if as you say video is what you are after, how about the touch? bigger screen and kudos from your peers if that is your bag too.

it depends on what you want your ipod for. I have a nano that I use to listen to music while working out at the gym as well as for music on the move and I love it. It is so small so it is easy to carry around, and the arm band that you can get to use it at the gym is fantastic. mine's 4gb and I have more than enough music on it to carry around with me.

if you're wanting an ipod for storing all your music, then by all means get the classic.

    THanks,

Think i'm going to go for the classic for the music i have about 10gb of music at the moment. Also probably watch movies on it. I dont know about the touch it's a bit dear but i was tempted by the Archos. I think i might give the classic a try and if i dont like the screen give it to my wife and buy the archos lol.

Got to travel 40 miles tomorrow to get the ipod as everywhere is out of stock :(

Thanks for all the advice :)

the old nano is great for exercising.
the new nano is kind of moving away from what i liked about the nano.

80GB Classic are £159 at John Lewis. I have had an email that you can get £10 off if your spending is over £100.
