job advert on online job sites

Hi,
I'm just wondering, how long does a job advert stay advertised online? I went to Reed website and most of the job doesn't have a closing date. I also found same jobs advertised by different agencies. I'm worried I might have been applying for out of date jobs...
How long should you wait until you assumed you don't get the job? When I applied directly to the employer they let you know quite quickly but nothing from those I applied through Reed website.
Thanks.

It really does depend on the recruiting agency and on the Job board. Some recruitment agencies are excellent and are efficient with putting the job up and taking it off. Some are terrible, they leave a job up for several weeks after it's filled. As it's all via email and a distribution list mailbox, the human reading might not care.
But let's assume you have actual job on Reed and they have a deadline. If 50 people apply, it'll be 2 weeks roughly for them to whittle that down to 6-8. 6-8 phone interviews the next fortnight. Then possibly 5 chosen for a face to face the week after. So it can be between 4 and 8 weeks usually. I've had some interviews in recent months and the average has been 6 weeks after application for a f2f. After the F2F you usually get offer same or next day.0
