Lamb stew and dumplings

Options
Can anyone tell me how to go about making lamb stew and dumplings in a slow cooker I bought one a while back but it didnt come with instructions and I have never tried lamb stew before.

TIA Jay-jay
I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet now cobwebs, dust go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep.

Most stew recipes require you to put it in the oven for 3 hours. In the slow cooker just put it on high for one hour then low for seven and it should be okay. Put you dumplings and thickening agent in one hour before the end. You can get away with a longer cooking time but leave it too long and the meat will disintegrate.

There is a massive slow cooker recipe thread on this forum. Here it is: -

Not had a slow cooker long but so far my favourite lamb stew is

Brown the meat in a bit of butter and put it to one side (I usually use lamb shanks but diced lamb also works well)
    Then saute
    sliced carrots
    slices leeks
    sliced onion
    sliced potatoes
    sliced sweet potatoes
put the veg into the bottom of the slow cooker, add the meat on top, add a couple of sprigs of rosemary and add either a bouquet garni or some mixed herbs, season with salt and pepper then pour in a mix of vegetable and lamb stock (I use 1 pint of each but it depends on the size of your cooker and how much meat and veg you've used)

Cover and cook on low for 10-12 hours or high for 3-4 hours.

Then put the dumplings in for the last hour
