Mortgage and gambling

Hi I've had a gambling problem of late,

I would like to apply for a mortgage soon but I just wanted to know how far back to they look when assessing my mortgage application the amount was roughly £20-£25k for gambling.
What should I do?

If bank statements are requested then typically it is around three months, however sometimes it can be a longer period if they feel it is necessary to request. In terms of the gambling, that is something you should really get a grip off to be honest. Is your deposit related to it in any way? As this may cause some issues.
  • Did you pay it all back? Do you have any defaults or CCJs? When assessing you for a mortgage the bank will check your credit file which goes back 6 years. They will ask for 3 months bank statements to check your outgoings and ensure affordability.
