No t-shirt jobs

Are there many jobs out there where you don't have to wear t-shirts? It's just that I have a 4 inch long, 2 cm wide scar on my wrist and I think it might put employers off.

Thanks. Arun.

Hopefully any potential employer will not judge you on your scar.

Try not to worry about it, as for most jobs you will have to have an interview where you will want to be suited and booted to make a good impression anyway :)

Also there are many, many jobs that do not require you to wear a t-shirt. Best of luck finding a job!
  • Don't worry. I don't think employers will be put off by a scar. Most of the jobs I've had didn't require me to wear a T-shirt. Even if the company does have a company T-shirt maybe you could ask to wear a long sleeve top underneath if your scar bothers you.

I would actually think MOST job's don't require you to wear a T-Shirt, though that could depend on the sector.

I also agree it shouldn't matter in the slightest to an employer, but as someone with a few visible scars I can understand if you feel self conscious about it.

Would something like this be an option?

If anyone were to ask you could legitimately say you have a prior injury to the wrist and keep it covered and supported.

Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.

I very much doubt anyone will judge your ability to the job based on a scar on the wrist.

  • I have a scar on my neck, and haven't ever been asked about it by an employer. One colleague was very disappointed though, to find out that it was from a birthmark removal - he thought that I had had to have a tracheostomy at some point in my life, which apparently would be more exciting than a birthmark :rotfl:

Incidentally, I don't wear scarves or anything with a high neck or collar, as I find them restrictive, so my scar is visible.

I agree, I know it may depend on the line of work but it's never occurred to me that 'most' jobs require people to wear t-shirts - rather the reverse!!!

And I'd struggle to do any job which DID require me to wear a t-shirt because I feel the cold!!!

Moving on, it may be possible to improve the appearance of even old scars with things like bio-oil. And if it's a recent scar, they tend to fade with time.
Signature removed for peace of mind
