unauthorised loan application

not sure if this is the right forum. i was caught at a bit of a vunerable moment when looking at a car in a national car showroom. i wont name the company. the salesman conned me into leaving £100 cash deposit as i did not have my bank card on me as a deposit for a £9000 car. i only left the deposit cos he said no one had been refused credit for all i told him i was blacklisted! anyway to cut a long story short i got refused it from peugot and they tried santander (where i have a lot of savings) but they also refused me. so i asked for my money back. anyway he hummed and ha'ad and told me to go into the bank and see about a loan from them! he was a typcial car salesman and i was sick to death of him. anyway unbeknown to me him and the accounts department tried other companies for a loan without my permission and some company said yes! i was furious as the rate was sky high. anyway in between asking for my money back and them getting my loan i did tell someone in the company i was not going ahead with the sale which they blatently ignored.

they wont give me my deposit back but what i am more annoyed and bothered about is the fact that they have applied to companies for loans without my consent or permission.

is there anything i can do about this. i have wrote a letter of complaint so some account manager and also to the person who is managing director/owner of the big company and they have ignored my letter.
i was told by someone in the company that my deposit would be used for their christmas party!! absolutely furious!!

any advice would be appreicated
Just about to give up!

  • Did you sign any pieces of paper at all at the garage??

If you did I guarantee you will have given permission somewhere on there.

If you did not then you could use this as a leverage to get your deposit back - data protection beaches are taken very seriously these days.
Check the 3 main CRA's to see exactly what they did.
  • At least now you know that blacklists don't exist.
