Old pension

Options
My partner has just received information about a pension he paid into about 20 years ago. Basic question is it best to leave it where it is or should we be transferring it to his current employer pension scheme

    its not a basic question.

If it is better where it is then it should be left there. If it is better to transfer it to the current employer scheme (or another option) then it should be transferred.

However, as we do not know anything about the existing pension or the proposed pension, we cannot say what option is best.

You didnt give us enough information to answer your not so basic question.

but if a DB/final salary type i'd think it best to leave it, and if the old pension has guaranteed benefits like GAR or GMP then also best to leave it.

What kind of pension is the old pension?

    DB/DC?

    Any safeguarded benefits?
