Can you freeze wine

I'm a tea-totaler who enjoys cooking. Now and again I like to make a nice stock or sauce and will buy several small bottles of wine or use a substitute. I was wondering though if wine will freeze for as I understand once you open a bottle of wine it really only stays drinkable for about 4/5 days
Given that you can freeze it how would you go about it? I'm thinking about half filling a small mineral bottle. I appreciate alcohol will not freeze completely.
There are quite a few substitutes out there but occasionally there is nothing to beat the real thing
Look forward to your views

Yes you can freeze wine for cooking. Like you I don't drink, but very happy to use it in cooking.
Either freeze it in ice-cube trays, then once frozen wrap well in ploy bad, or if there freeze directly in strong poly bags/plastic tubs in portion sized amounts.
p.s. champagne freezes well and is wonderful in a chicken sauce!0 -
I also freeze it in ice cube trays then chuck a handful or whatever directly into the stew. Easy and works well. No need to defrost.0

Yes, I've frozen wine before. I just poured it into a sandwich box and popped it in the freezer.0

I've never felt the need to do this (there's always a bottle open in this house...) but how about using old yogurt pots? That would give you about the quantity you would need for cooking. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0

You could always send it to me!
Seriously, though, it will also keep in the fridge for several weeks, if stoppered. I have recently done this with some wine that I don't like (!) left by a guest 2 months ago and have used it for poaching pears.0 -
This is not the thread for me:
Punchline is '.....that you could have wine left over'.0
