Help! IKEA Home delivery...

Someone please help! I don't know what to do!
After placing an order on 17th September I was told I'd receive my mattress and bedstead on 27th. I emailed through advising of the car parking restrictions, they would have to bring a small vehicle. They attempt to deliver in a 40T lorry. Obviously I cannot receive the item.
I then get advised that I would receive the item the following Monday (1st October) but by late Monday it became obvious that it wasn't going to arrive and after many phone calls to IKEA and the courier service I get told that certain routes haven't been able to be delivered today and unfortunately mine was one of them.
After this I'm told Tues morning (2nd Oct), still no sign of the bed, noone knows where it is but they are arranging another delivery date and will contact me shortly. This happened in the morning, I hadn't heard from them by Weds so I called them and was told that my bed had been delivered the day before...hmmm...noone had accepted the delivery so it was on its way back to Peterborough (the holding place for such items).
Anyway, after being promised that yesterday I would without doubt get the item as I was now a priority, today I still don't have it and apparantly they've lost the bed.
I have been promised phonecalls throughout which they haven't done, and since 27th September I've been sleeping on the floor!
Can anyone give me some advice as to what I can say/do to try and sort them out? and also when I eventually do get it how to go about compensation? If I was to cancel the order would I still be entitled to compensation for the days off work that I have had?
Sorry It's such a long post!
Thanks
