Playstation 3 for £299

this is more a heads up perhaps? but, if you are after a PS3, from tomorrow they are getting reduced in Woolworths to £299 for the basic package, i dont know how much of a saving this is really asi am not up to speed with all the new consoles, BUT i was asking the manager of my local woolies about saving me specific figures and he asked if i wanted a PS3 saving for my boys as they are getting reduced tomorrow, and there is no Wiis as they were built faulty? anyhoo, i am sure if you want one, you know the ins and outs of it, and i hope £299 is a good price for someone !

Morning, its not a actually a price drop its a new cut down version! Your woolies manager isnt clued up obviously!

Basically, if you have old ps2 games they wont work on this new one, also they dont have as many usb ports (2 instead of 4) as the more expensive one and the hard drive is smaller (40GB instead of 60GB) and it doesnt have memory card slots!

No Wiis because they were built faulty. Sounds like a load of tosh to me. There are loads of Wiis available all over the place.

my wii is fine, no faults at all, neither has any one else i know, but i got a ps3 yesterday and i can see why its more expensive!!

There seems to be a shortage of Wii's at the moment, ive been trying to get one for 3 weeks now, with no luck.....and i refuse to pay Ebays inflated prices.

The PS3 was advertised in todays paper at 299, but i don't think i will bother now after reading here that they are not backwards compatable with games

The cut down version has a starting price of £299 but the standard version HAS been reduced in price by £75 to £349 and includes 2 free games (normally £39 a piece).

go to www.Play.com for a ps3, hdmi lead, 2 free games and click blueray dvd for £349.

I have been looking for a while and this now makes it justifiable

You can also get a Playstation 3 with 2 games and 2 blu-ray movies for £349 from Gamestation but I reckon the Play deal is slightly better as the HDMI retails at 19.99

And lets not forget that although the Wii IS BRILL and fun for kids etc, the PS3 can be used for web surfing, music, video etc etc.

And another ace thing the PS3 will be able to do next year is record TV (including HD) in the same way as Sky+ (acts as a PVR).

The software will be called PlayTV - from Sony.

Sort of , almost, roughly not bad value ish.
