Selling fur coat

Don't know if this is the right place but anyway...
Trying to sell my mum's practically unused nutria fur coat. Been hanging in her wardrobe for many years. Doesn't show signs of wear and tear but I'm no expert on these things.
Was bought in the 80s by my late dad back In Italy. She has never worn it as she finds it cumbersome to wear.

I don't support killing animals for their fur and would never buy one for myself or anyone else but we could use any money coming from a possible sale of this item.

How much can it be worth? It's a vintage fur coat I guess given its age.

Many thanks in advance. :T

No idea of worth try Ebay.

I have my granny's vintage beaver coat hanging in the wardrobe. I would never sell it I do not approve of real fur so do not want anyone else to wear it. It can hang until it rots or something day I will take it out cut it up and let the cats sleep on it.

A friend had a couple of real fur coats after her mother passed away. She donated them to a local am dram group to use for stage productions.
  • Has the coat ever been sent in for storage and reglazing?

If it's been hanging in a wardrobe, chances are the leather under the fur is dried out.

Depending on the type of fur, you may be able to sell it to a furrier or an arts/crafts group.

I know here in Canada, a couple of time a year a buyer travels to the major cities and buys old furs and they sell them on to various groups.
  • You can pick up short (hip length) real fur coats at vintage shops for around £40 - £50.

I would never buy a new one - but in the case of vintage ones, the damage (ie the killing of the animals) has already happened. I feel it's more respectful to continue to use them rather than just chuck them away.
No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...
