The gym equipment is ok, its matrix in pure gym and I think the same in the gym. Its not awful but its not the best quality compared do some other equipment.
The clients were fine. A lot moved over from the council gym. Met some really nice people.
Facilities, I cant say for the gym but pure dont have any boxing type equipment in any of their gyms. They dont have boxes to do step ups either in most of the pure gyms either. You can bring your own pads and gloves in I believe.
In pure gym the studio is open plan, no door on it, the spin studio is open plan as well.
It does the job its supposed to do for the money provided. Theres also no pool which a lot of people werent v happy with. No pool, no sauna, thats one thing my local council gym does have.
I imagine that the gym is the same as pure in that if you want a gym programme you pay for that as well, but plenty of people know what they are doing and can make their own programmes up.0 -
Have used The Gym in Crawley. Excellent value for money. They had ample aerobic and fixed weight equipment but the free weights could get pretty busy at peak times. I used to be a member of Virgin in Crawley and found the situation the same there though. I'm an experienced trainee/qualified PT so I can improvise something if my intended bit of equipment is in use but if you are less experienced it might be a bit more of a pain.
You'll find a bit less of the faddy or novelty stuff. There's no Vipers or Powerplates. The only thing I missed was a Bosu Ball for balance work. They did have one so me and my training partner had to take turns with it. Not the end of the world though.
The Gym in Crawley had no separate space for classes. I'd occasionally see a PT with a group running improvised circuits on the main gym floor but that was it.
I used to use the hot tub and pool occasionally at Virgin but for £25 less a month I can forgo that little luxury. Showers and changing facilities at The Gym were just as good as Virgin.
When I cancelled it was zero hassle. All in all I thoroughly recommend it!0 -
I use The Gym in Chelmsford. Its great value, very cheap. Just dont expect swimming pools and spas. Its just basic gym equipment. At busy times the free weights area is packed and you have to queue for a bench. There is more than enough cardio equipment though.0
