Customs on goods returning to the UK

I've been deployed overseas by my (UK) employer, just short of 6 months.

As I now prepare to return, I have a number of personal belongings I wish to post back.
Normally anything from outside the EU will incur duty on customs, so I assume I should include documentation with a sort of inventory with the goods I'm shipping back, an indication these are personal belongings posted at the time I fly back home, etc.

Any idea how I should go about this, what forms I need to fill and where to find them?
Or should I just post the items normally, pay on reception and claim reimbursement later?
