Opticians - where to go for good value?

Obviously not all Asda opticians are equal, but I had my eyes tested at the local one and he pronounced me borderline short-sighted (which came as something of a surprise!!)
Anyway I chose a pair of cheap frames (as they were only for reading and I wasn't going to be "seen" in them:rolleyes: ), and duly collected them when they were ready.
From that day on I always got a headache when reading. After a few weeks I went to an optician (Vision Value) who had tested my eyes previously and had a retest.
I said nothing of course until the test was over and he told me I wouldn't need glasses for another 2 years at least........
........I went back to Asda and got a full refund, needless to say :T
BTW, I think D&A have a special offer on until the end of the month for a free eye test worth £25.:wave:0 -
I went to my local Asda at weekend for an eye test after going to my local specsaver for a number of years. The optician was really good and told me exactly what was wrong with my eyes.
As I needed new pairs thought I would go for their option 2 pairs of designers for £145 or 2 pairs with lighter lens for £165. Finally picked two pairs and the sales !!! recommended the super or extra thinner lens working out at the over £400 for two pair. Alway get proper advice if you need thinner lens, I went back to spec savers and they had samples of the thinner lens and extra thin. The !!! there said as I was only have plastic frames I could get away with the thinner lens costing £60. I went back to asda and told them I wanted the offer at £165 with just the cheaper thinner lens.
Cant wait to get them. Don't get pushed into something you don't actually need.0
