The MD might be confident that he can keep you all, he might have just been telling you what you want to hear, either way only time will tell.
There are no others doing the same role. It's literally just me up for redundancy. I previously worked in another area of the business before taking this role. I guess I assumed that worst case scenario was that I go back to working in something like my old role.0 -
I'd get your CV brushed up and signed up to Linkedin.
Keep your options open but consider any redundancy offer carefully - if they move you to a less suitable role and you subsequently decide to leave then you'll get much less.
No harm in discretely getting yourself out there and seeing what is available .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

CV and LinkedIn always up to date. I'll be co-operative but I'm not under any illusion or holding out any hope that I will still be here in two weeks time.0 -
Well "Verbal" means in the form of words so it could be written or spoken.
I thought i would point that out because everyone in this thread seems to be using the word "verbal" when they mean "oral".
Err.... also "Spoken rather than written; oral."
Probably best not to point out things which make you look silly...0 -
Only safe "seat" on a "company bus" is for the guy who is driving it. Do look around for other jobs and have a hard think as to whether hanging about until the end for a possible decent payout is worth it compared with jumping ship for more secure employment.Norn Iron Club member No 3530

That's exactly what i said "Verbal" can mean both written or spoken. So when you are talking about spoken communication only then "Oral" is the word to use.
Especially when you attempt to make a joke that a "Verbal Assurance" is not written down when in fact it can be written or spoken.0 -

Your heroic pedantry has added both humour and enlightenment to the discussion - thank you for such a valuable contribution.0 -

Many years ago? Happens pretty much every single week of every season between October and March. The "dreaded vote of confidence" is not called that for nothing.
In hindsight the OP should have started his job search when he received the dreaded vote of confidence. If the company wanted to promote him or just move him out of the firing line, they would have done it in February.0 -

I don't follow football, but this incidence was particularly memorable as it was frequently quoted and possibly was fairly unique at the time.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
