Help please 're split tickets on train journey

Hi, I am wanting to travel with one adult and one child from Sleaford to Birmingham New Street on 19th Oct. at approx 11.00 am.
Using MSE split ticket tool it gives me best option as Sleaford to Long Eaton then Long Eaton to Birmingham New Street. What I don't understand is if I would just get same train as if I booked direct or if it's a different route altogether and I would have to change trains at Long Eaton. Thanks for any help.

You didn't mention anything about return, so I have assumed single.

No idea what you have found, but Trainsplit offers:

Dep Sleaford 10:51. arr Peterborough 11:34. Off Peak Single £23.55.
Change trains at Peterborough - 18 minute wait.
Dep Peterborough 11:52, arr Birmingham N.S. 13:38. Advance Single £21.15.
With Advance Single tickets you must travel on the booked train.

The total fare for one adult and one child is £44.70.

The return trip, out and back, can be done for £48.75 via Nottingham.

The trains you need to get are:

1112 Sleaford to Nottingham;
1241 Nottingham to Birmingham New Street. (This train calls at Long Eaton which is where your tickets 'overlap').
