Experian Pre-Screening advice needed

Hi
I have secured a contract via an Agency with a Consultancy company. Since receiving the contract and signing it, I have been contacted by the Consultancy and been given a link to do an Experian Pre-Screening. I have contacted Experian and it involves a basic criminal check. I'm told it will list any unspent convictions and I have 1 conviction for which I received a £300 fine and is spent after a period of 1 year which ends in a couple of months. The conviction is not related to the work I do however the results can take up to 3 weeks to be received, however the job starts within the next 7 days. I quit a permanent job to take this long term contract without being advised by the Agency of this requirement. Need advice how best to handle the pending result and whether it will result at the Consultancies discretion to remove me from the contract?! Do I tell them about it before I start, or wait. Any help would be great.

Why are Experian doing this and not a basic DBS check?0

Why are Experian doing this and not a basic DBS check?
Because Experian do offer an identity and basic criminal records
checking service and probably a lot more. As well as any financial checks.
All depends on what the client (employer) wants to pay for and have as their package I guess.
A lot of screening companies say may and depends a lot... I've noticed.
OP I've just been through a basic screening and you are ok as long as you immediately tell the manager if this is going to come up, if you really think it is going to come up speak out now, the worst that happened to me not so long back was a job then turned out to be a trial basis whilst I would have been accessed (past financial trouble) I wasn't saved by having never been asked so that argument isn't valid regrettably, however, the company appreciated the up front honesty. It was a better position then later being sacked for failure to declare which was the impression I got for something I just knew would come up once they confirmed what they checked for.0 -
I submitted the online form and am waiting to hear back from the Agency as I spoke out now.
