Where do you buy your curtains?

I want to buy some thermal curtains for winter - the thicker, blackout kind. Which shops sell the best value curtains?

My windows are not standard dimensions so any thoughts on shops which have good value non-standard measurements would be fab.

You might be best to purchase a pair slightly larger than the window and get them altered, have you got a friend with a sewing machine? At least then you can go for a standard budget curtain, saving you a bit of cash.

I know that once you're outside the standard frame measurements, it all gets expensive!

In the material shops then my OH makes the curtains we want to fit where needed.:D

I saw the blackout curtains on the Argos website not long ago, whether they would fit your windows that aren't standard dimension.

Thanks all. I have really wide windows that aren't that tall. I suppose I don't mind getting long drop curtains and altering them at a later date... but I suppose I was wondering mostly where you can get the best blackout curtains and so on? Are a cheap pair off eBay just as good as those from Dunelm and so on?

Dunelm are pretty run of the mill so I'm sure you'll find curtains in ebay just as good.

For example, these are 90in wide by 72in drop and £29.99. You could ask the seller if they have a swatch of the fabric?
