I am changing jobs and have a different pay day. Was paid at end of month but new first pay will be 15th Nov. Plus until P45 sorted will be stumped for basic rate tax. So in hindsight I phoned my mortgage company - GE Money and asked if possible if can take a half payment and the 1 1/2 for following 2 months. Was lectured first about cutting everything else back and then told if I was to do it would cost me £40 month arrears charge plus my credit rating would be damaged! I advised my so called arrears would be <1 monthly payment and that wouldnt be recorded on my credit file anyway as worked in mortgages before for ironically a collections dept. He stated it was company policy to charge anything not met in full - I said this would be done with prior arrangement so why a charge. - The reply - Thats the way we do it and tough!!

Hmmm - so much for TCF - I think we'll find lenders less and less accomodating for a good while to come unfortuantely. You haven't got a 0% card you can use just to tide you over?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
