I once scored a freakish 606! That was about 15 years ago, and I've never equalled or bettered it, but it could happen... who knows? I'm usually pleased enough with a winning score over 400. Or even a winning score for that matter.

you sound just like them with your travel scrabble and super scrabble and the competitiveness between the two of you. They also take there travel scrabble away everywhere with them.:D

I scored something like 800 once, I spelt the world QUIZZING over 2 triple word scores to get like 400 points for 1 word... :beer:

What was your biggest ever score for your first word?

The last time I played scrabble with my wife, I saw "yachting" , if she put down "t" on her first go. The chances of that were remote, but she put it down in a place that got me two double word scores - that plus the 50 point bonus for using all seven letters gave me nearly 120 points for my first word.

It's a shame she's never felt the urge to play it again. In the end, I only won by 50-odd points, so if I hadn't had that complete fluke at the start, she'd have won, and we'd probably have played many more times since. Instead, we've always had to resort to s.. nevermind.

I am mightily impressed with the 596 score. I think of myself of something of a Scrabble champ and I think my highest ever score was something like 560-570. I'm also loving the fact that you play Scrabble full stop. I knew there must be some other relatively young, relatively cool people out there doing it as well as me! It no longer needs to be my dirty secret

P.S. Have all you other Scrabble fans on here discovered www.scrabulous.com where you can play Scrabble live with other users of the site? Absolutely addictive but beware, it is a time eater.....

I've given up scrabulous - scrabble blitz is dangerously addicitive - it should be a classified game!

It's been a while since i played but my mate and i a few years ago would regularly score 800 or so between us....more often than not one of us would score more than 400.
It would take me a while to get back into the swing of it but i reckon 596 is a dam good score!!

Since when has there been two Z's in Scrabble? I've only had one in my sets.

Im presuming this was a blank for the z. The real z was on a double letter score in which case

36 x 9 = 315 plus whatever the conneting word is
