New Loan
Hi, I am looking to get a personal loan. Have some questions about it :
- On the free tool here, best chances of approval is Zopa with 90%.
- I had someone from Barclays call me this week and said they can provide also a personal loan since I am a premier customer.
- last year when I have my mortgage, within a month I got rejected by Hitachi for a personal loan.
My debt to salary is 32% ( mortgage + cc minimum monthly payment ). New debt to salary will be around 35%,
Questions :
1) Do I prefer the Zopa one? I think Barclays had stricter procedure but does the fact I am a Premier Banking customer makes it easier?
2) if I go Barclays would you do it online or in person? does it make any difference?
Thanks

If you use online banking with Barclays, your pre-approved limit should show on there. You can also get them to do a soft search and tell you the APR you could get.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0

Well I would go Barclays only if being an existing Premier Banking customer makes any difference. Otherwise zopa terms seem better ( on the soft search at least ). Concern is that last year I got rejected by Hitachi and don't want to be rejected again by Zopa ( which seems to me would have similar criteria as Hitachi )0

yes they did a soft search and gave me both APR and pre-approved limit. But question is if there is any indication whether I can be accepted or not? Pre-approved limit and APR does not mean that my approval is guaranteed right?0 -

But sometimes you can overthink things.0 -
I've used Zopa in the past and not had a problem. You can overpay and Zopa will reduce your monthly direct debit.Savings as of April 2023 Savings account - £26460.50(14474.88)Current account - £2140.24(4576.79)Total - £28600.74(19051.67) £1010 (£65pm CS/BS) £250 CS/BS/JS0
