I'm disabled and can't make things for myself. These days I mostly just keep nuts in my room but get so bored of them! Does anyone have any snack suggestions and also breakfast things if no ones home. I have a small fridge upstairs,
Also is it true salad will last 5 days in a Mason jar chopped up?

for snacks... pieces of celery/cucumber with primula, ham wrapped round cheese cubes (or both on their own). lettuce with pate. sliced meat/cheese. radishes (yes i am weird but i like to munch on them lol)
cream cheese mixed with peanut butter with or without sweetener, spoonful of that is very filling. olives, pieces of chicken or other meat
thats a start but i may think of others. sorry dont know about the salad in a jar but i have kept chopped up salad in a tupperware for a couple of days.
do you have someone who can make meals for you to eat later eg lowcarb bread, lasagna etc? When you know better you do better0 -
Boiled eggs keep really well in the fridge, they last several days. Or make omelettes with different flavours (peppers, ham, bacon, cheese, herbs...). I chop it up and it also keeps really well in tupperware.
Greek yoghurt (full fat) or Skyr yoghurt are both low carb - add a few nuts and/or berries/seeds for a quick breakfast.
You could also make a big batch of low carb granola, have with almond or soya milk. I don't have a recipe personally, but no doubt Google will
For lunches I make feta cheese salads with various veg etc in. If you don't add dressing they also keep well (I make 3 days worth at a time).
Could you or someone pre-cook chicken with different herbs or spices as flavourings and keep for easy dinners? Add veg of your choice or salad.
Things like those smoked sausages (Mattesons do them but others are available! They are like a thick, curled hot dog) also keep for a long time.Proud to be a moneysaver0 -
I make Mason jar salads quite a lot. They last very well, but my limit is four days, after which the veg is startimg to soften.
The secret is in the layering: put dressing at the bottom (usually olive oil, mixed herbs, seasoning and balsamic for me), followed by hard veg (e.g. Chopped peppers or cucumber chunks), then softer veg (tomatoes and. Beetroot), then perhaps a layer of carbs (pasta or salad potatoes) and finally lettuce leaves and seeds.
Just tip the jar upside down just before you open it to toss the salad in the dressing.
I love these salads, and take them to work nearly every day with a bit of chicken, or some tuna, or mozzarella or feta. They are a lovely healthy lunch!2025 goals

I don't know what's low carb .... but if I want fridge snacks then cook (or buy) cocktail sausages. Usually ~£1.60 for a pack of 40. Once opened I transfer the lot to a plastic takeaway box.
Meats can be eaten cold: cold roast chicken, or beef...etc.
Cheese triangles? There are other shapes/brands now that are different flavours.... so if you want a cheese triangle hit, then look at the other shapes, I think there were some square ones advertised on the telly last night. There are a number out there.
Boiled eggs, as has been said, keep for a long time in the fridge.
Cheese sticks - just buy a block of hard cheese, slice it into fat fingers, wrap them individually in clingfilm or foil, or just stick them back in the packet and reseal it (some zip up, or you might need a clip).
Crab/seafood sticks - love those! Little pink/white sticks of processed surimi fish.
All very nibble worthy.
Tinned fruit, you can get small cans. No need for even a fridge.0
