While getting quotes it's been pointed out that I have enough room for a 4.5 kw system for an extra £500
My gut feeling is go for the slightly.bigger array what are others thoughts

I'd go bigger....but then I already have.
You'll still have to have your inverter capped at 3.68Kw unless you get DNO approval then if you have some "extra" rooves you could go even larger
£500 sounds a little expensive considering it's 2 panels(roughly £130-150 a piece(retail not trade)) and a few extra bits of mounting and cable, the scaffolding will already be up too.
Can I ask how much you've been quoted? Type of kit? And the all important question.....do you have ANY shading?2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0
