Handing in resignation questions

It's starting to surface at my workplace I may be leaving soon as people know I'm moving away (and won't be commuting all the way to work) so wanted to hand my letter of res in. I have to work a week's notice so I would ideally have finished next friday if I handed it in this coming friday. However, would companies let me work over a week's notice if I hand my notice in tomorrow?

Secondly, I have no access to a printer so would email or handwritten work? I know a job is a job but I'm working in a factory where the work standards are horrific so I'm not entirely sure they'll be that fussed?

They might. They ought. But they might not and it's not worth the hassle. Hand it in on Friday. And yes, email or handwritten is fine these days.
