Former employer issue

Hi,
I'm having a bit of a nightmare with my former employer. I was in a sales-based role with a salary and commission element, which I left at the end of June. They were relocating the sales team to Sheffield, about 200 miles away and gave us the options of "leave" or "move".
They guaranteed us any commission owed would be paid, in July it duly was.
For August's pay, I had to ask 5 times for my commission figures, eventually they came back saying £277. This is extremely low, so I queried it, knowing my sales total was around £800 in my final month. They re-ran the stats and said I was right, another £532 is due. By the time they'd faffed around, it was too late to pay me in August's pay run and told me I have to wait for it.
I've asked them to pay me sooner, I shouldn't have to wait until the end of September. They refuse to provide any reasoning whatsoever, just saying 'you'll have to wait'. They made a mistake earlier this year with my lay and arranged a faster payment to be processed but now don't want to play ball.
Am I being unreasonable asking for money owed to me to be paid in a timely manner? What would be the best course of action from here?
TIA

The short answer is that going to court would take you longer than the 4.5 weeks you currently have to wait.0

You are not being unreasonable asking but there is almost nothing useful you can do if they make you wait. As said above, going to court then, if necessary taking enforcement action will take many months.0 -
No you aren't being unreasonable. But that doesn't mean a thing because you won't get the money any faster.0

I know any other action is going to take a while, just doesn't seem particularly fair that I'm punished for their 'system error' as they put it. I know they can make one-off payments too, as they've done so in the past due to their errors but don't seem to even cross that bridge on this occasion.

Unfortunately you have no leverage. In the past they were relying on you to work, and to a higher degree, had an element of duty of care to you.I know any other action is going to take a while, just doesn't seem particularly fair that I'm punished for their 'system error' as they put it. Now you're just a creditor0 -
Yes payrolls can make one-off payments, but generally there is a cost. You don't work for them any longer so it could be that they don't have to 'keep you sweet' now so they will do it in the next pay run which won't incur extra costs.0

I agree but sadly that is how virtually all small businesses feel when trying to get paid promptly by large organisations.0
