Payday Loan Help

Hi,
Only recently after visiting this site did I complain to the payday lender I used back in 2007.
Back then I was in a horrible place with a new-born baby and was constantly rolling over my loan, only receiving stat maternity and a single mother of 2. I did this a total of 28 times, when I complained to them they came back and said I was out of time and the ombudsmen would not look at it either. Anyway I have sent it to the ombudsman and this morning they came back to me with this reply.
I'm emailing with a brief update on your complaint against Payday UK. Payday UK have sent us their file with information about your loans. They've said we can't look at all of the loans as they say you're out of time to complain about them.
We need to look at what you've both said and see if Payday UK is right to say this. Once we do, we'll be in touch to let you know the next steps.
In the meantime, many thanks for your patience.
I am unsure with what to reply with as I did not know that I could complain thus the delay in me asking. I feel also that them saying they cant have the files is quite cheeky also. Payday uk told me that they didn't have them anymore but going by the information up above they do still have them?
This is my first ever post on here and I need some help with my reply... please
