paulypost,
Trust when I say this....£4k is TOO MUCH for the upgrade. Why are you not listening to the other posters on here, have you not heard what you want to hear or something?
I'd think somewhere in the region of £1500 with scaffolding thrown in would suffice. Also, Just reiterating what ASB says....the online monitoring comes as standard with solaredge...you're not buying it...everyone gets it(providing they link the inverter to their router(mines via homeplugs))
By the way, your current inverter is probably one of the most trusted brands on the market, why not look at extending the warranty on that instead?2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0 -
Or invest in solar in sunnier places:

It's not really silly when people are picking up flaws in your reasoning. Either you want feedback or don't but I'm with the comments above, it's a lot of money for something that seems pretty small.
Why not wait until something fails before spending? Paying for new items now when they're working seems a false economy especially when the calculation doesn't include loss of capital. You also need to take account that you could get 5% on that money not 0.5% or if you're happy to lose it all then investing could give a far better return over 20 yearsRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
