Stuggling to cope!

Hi, seeking a bit of advice in regards to my next move.

I was paid my monthly wage this week and no sooner had it landed in my account it was snapped up due to payments to CSA/Council Tax/Car Insurance/Phone bill etc.

I literally have no money for shopping for myself and more importantly my pregnant girlfriend for the next four weeks. I work hard and take home a reasonable £1300 to 1500 p/m. I normally get overtime in which gives us a welcome boost but due to O/T not being available last month I find myself in this desperate situation (-and to be honest a few fair times this last year).

I currently have an attachment of earnings of £220 direct from my wage for one child (to a partner from when I was young) and I pay cash to an ex girlfirend for my other two kids for £285 (messy affairs I understand, but even so my children and I wish to support them).

But added to the general home direct debits, gas & electric (etc) I literally have nothing left. My mum recently lent us £300 due to our situation, but she is out of work and struggles herself. So I've paid her back what I owe her as she also needs to survive. We have nowhere else to turn.

I've spoken to my boss at work in serious consideration of quitting my job and living off the social, which please understand is the last thing I want, but don't see any other way out of this situation - and he has directed me to this site as a last ditch attempt at salvaging an idea that may help us.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

    Hi,

Statement of affairs comes first, (SOA) calculator here :

    http://www.stoozing.com/calculator/soa.php

Looks like you've been agreeing to unafordable payment plans, this has to stop straight away, get them looked at again.

A proper and concise budget will help you decide whats affordable, and what isn't.

Hi retrac0980, welcome and you've come to the right place for help and advice, there are loads of helpful and experienced people here who will be able to advise you. However, it would be best if you completed an SOA detailing your income and outgoings, this can be done at http://www.stoozing.com/calculator/soa.php, which will provide the information needed for help to be given.

Edit: sorry, crossed with sourcrates' post.

A couple of things stand out, your car is worth £500 but costs you £140 a month to insure?? Are you a young driver?

Does your partner have an income?

Your car insurance is ridiculously high - I don't pay much more than that for a year. Have you shopped around? Could you manage without a car?
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

Are you double counting child maintenance in your SOA? If £225 is being deducted from your salary does the £1,400 include the deduction? If so what are the £500 of child related expenses?

Does your girlfriend contribute financially to the household at all because your SOA makes it look like you pay all the household bills by yourself?

Internet services at £50 a month seems high.
  • A few friends have said i'm paying an extortionate amount for car insurance, the area I live in isn't particularly bad, but I don't know. I need a car as my girlfriend is pregnant.

Just looked at another comparison site I can get that down to £100, but still seems a lot still!

My partner isn't entitled to anything as last year I earnt £31k due to the 60hr weeks I was putting in, but this year my wage is nowhere near that but the same deductions are being applied, CSA have contacted my workplace direct and have done their own calculations, but we are in serious danger of being unable to put food on our table.
