Please help me find a really nice pen/set - £500

It's my OHs birthday towards the end of September.
He's wonderful, and it's been a year with some ups and downs, so I want to get him something really nice
I know his dad has a lovely Parker pen set (fountain and ballpoint pen) and my OH told me he sees that set as a symbol of 'done good'.
So... I think I want to get him a set, but not sure where to go to get the best bang for my buck.
For 'not big' birthdays we have an agreed limit of £500 and anything under the limit gets spent on a nice meal (out or home cooked) so the pressure is on to get the most pen that won't leave me cooking noodles
I'm not fixed on Parker, I had a quick look at Mont Blanc pens and nearly fainted :rotfl:, but I don't know if completely non-branded will have that same sense of prestige and it doesn't have to be a set if a single pen 'looks better'
So... it's got to look nice, look quality (both when being gifted, but also when sat on his desk in the office), and not cost more than a house deposit.
Think you can help?
Thank you in advance :A

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.

This is not a set as you have to buy separately but the make is hugely popular

The matching ballpoint pen is Pelikan Souveran K600
Fountain pen is £220 and ballpoint is £161.

If it was me, i'd spend under £100 on an Italix set from Mr Pen, either the 'Parson's Essential' or 'Churchman's Prescriptor', then save the other £400 for something else

Or if you really want to spend that much on a pen, i'd probably look at 'Sailor', something like the 1911 or professional gear

It'll spoil the element of surprise, but why not ask him? Pens are highly personal things and buying something because you believe it has status/cachet (which is fine, by the way!) doesn't mean he will find it comfortable to hold/write with. In particular, the nib on a fountain pen needs to suit the user - and getting the wrong one could mean spending a LOT more to get it changed.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0
