Do you know your tax code?Gone ... or have I?0

Look at your payslip. That will show what deductions there are from your £219 gross pay. If there is a deduction for health insurance, it must be itemised. Your NI and tax will also be shown separately. You are also likely to have cumulative (to date since 6 April) figures too.
If you tell us the amount, if any, which is being deducted for health insurance and the code being applied for tax, we can give you an answer to your question.0 -
Thanks for your replies, I located my pay slip and the details are as follows:
Tax code: 552L 0
37 hours at £6/hour
Net pay after tax: 158.14
Does this help shed any light on things?
Thanks again0 -
What does your payslip say about how much tax and NI you paid.
You also mentioned health insurance - how much exactly is this?
Do you pay into a pension? If so how much?0 -
Looking at my payslip online, doesn't include a tax/ni breakdown.
No pension, believe the health insurance is around £2p/w.
Will try and find my actual slip for the breakdown.0 -
If your tax code is 522L it is 99% certain that you are paying the correct amount of tax0

you need to post every detail on your payslip... that is every detail... its fairly unlikely that your tax code is 552L 0 ..so check that too.0

Im currently working 37.5 hours a week at 8.50 an hour, at the end of the week I end up with 254 paid into my account . it is almost one year. i have been working with a company through an agency. i am still a temporary worker. my tax code is 603L. i am guessing it is an emergency code. total i get 318.75 pay tax=40.40
NI=23.51
so end up 254 paid into my account. the thing i was working before but when i start to work for them i didnt give them any P45 etc. i didnt know that.
am i paying too much taxes??what should i do? can i get a refund if i paid too much taxes/
thanks in advance0 -
Tax of £40.40 on pay of £318 is correct, as is code 603L - this is not emergency code. It looks as if you have been there for the whole of this tax year, whcih would mean your tax will be correct by the end of the year.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0
