She understood why and respected that I was upfront, she knows how recruitment is like marmite some people love it some people hate it. I can give one weeks notice or they have offered that I stay on until I find a new job. I've decided to stay on until I do, just hoping I find one next week and get it. Don't want to be there any longer than I have to
I'm assuming with your username that you can have stressful moments in your life and its fascinating that in your original post I see key stressful points.- it's effecting my health
- I need to escape
- I feel like I'm being suffocated
- feel trapped constantly
Now you have clear advice from your employer and you have the option to work only a weeks notice but instead you choose to stay on until you find a new job and final sentence is- Don't want to be there any longer than I have to
I know financial reasons can keep us in a job longer than we want but hopefully at some point in your life you will take time out for your mental wellbeing. We will always be faced with stressful moments in our life and we have to deal with those times but its better if those stressful moments are ones out of our control rather than ones created by our thought process. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Recruitment is a hard environment to be in, very competitive and has a high burn out rate. However, it is also a really good starting place to move on to other things. A friend started in recruitment - found it incredibly tough, but stuck it out for a year or so while she learnt a lot about sales, marketing, etc. 10 years later she was a marketing director earning a 6 figure salary! Sometimes you learn more from the difficult things than from the ones that are less difficult!0
