Debt sold on to another company

DH has been paying Debt Recovery Co, for a loan from Barclays, for about 10 years now  at £30/ month.

Recently he got a letter from Moorcroft asking him to pay them. He ignored it but now they have sent another saying they have taken on the debt and his last payment by direct debit was forwarded to them by the original debt company and all payments should be made direct to Moorcroft or they may not be credited to his debt.
He doesn't care about who he pays it to but can he demand a statement of payments for the past ten years? He has never had one and the only correspondence he ever got was an annual letter asking for updated financial info (which he never provided so payments continued at the same rate).
It would be good to know how much has been paid off the debt or even if the debt has increased as he has no info on whether they have been charging interest :(
So...is he entitled to a statement from the old and new debt company?
