Resigned job, no contract, Boss wont pay me

Hi just wondering where i stand on this. I resigned my job, which i have only been in for the past 6 months, as the boss wanted myself and another assistant manager to engage in some illegal activities, wont go into details but told him that i would resign if he insisted. Anyway cut a long story short, i get paid fortnightly, was due to get my final wage on Thursday 17th but never turned up. Phoned the company was told it was getting sent by cheque, asked if it had been sent yet and got told to phone the boss.
Just got off the phone with him, and after him calling me all the names under the sun ( very professional i know) said that he will be holding an inquiry as to the missing money in the safe, which was already missing before i got there i might add, and that he will deduct said amount from all 3 managers that are leaving (yes he's that great to work for all of us are going).
Can he do that, as I have never signed a contract and the money was already gone before i joined. Btw he is the kind of person that will just say it was all three of us.

If all 3 of you got tucked up, why not just arrange to meet up and kick the crap outta your [ex] boss? Going down the legal route will just be long, complex and a massive !!!!-ache generally.Sometimes my advice may not be great, but I'm not perfect and I do try my best. Please take this into account.0

Weird suggestion, considering that the OP resigned because they didn't want to carry out any illegal activities....
An example of someone trying to be funny but making a right hash of it...0 -

You're protected if you're worried (employers can't of course ask staff to act contrary to law), although it sounds as if he's the one who should be worried.
You (and the other ex-staff) can pursue him for the owed £ in the County Court, ie you can issue proceedings from £35.
You can also report him to HMRC, NICA, HSE, police etc depending on what the illegality is.Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0
