Looking for a new mascara that doesn't flake

I am looking for a mascara that doesn't flake off or clump and is easy to remove with a cleansing product.

Any suggestions?

I like Boots no7 stay perfect. It is the one in a gold tube. It never gives panda eyes.
  • The Natural range at Boots has good mascara that's not flaky or clumpy. Only a couple of quid too.

I like Barry M mascaras. Cheap, effective and cruelty free!

What's your budget? I know your on this site to save money, but one persons budget mascara is another persons luxury!

I find I can use Max Factor (rrp £10ish but around 1/3 off if you are buying in bulk and it's on offer-check Superdrug and Boots).
I also liked the Accelerate mascara by Rimmel though no idea if it's still being sold. Both are fairly easy to remove, not easy but easier.
Next price bracket up is the Body Shop mascaras and I've not found those to be a real issue to remove or noticed any fakes either.

I've always found Bourjois mascaras are the worst for flaking. I used to have rimless glasses and within a few hours of the wearing the Bourjois mascaras (and I've tried a few different types- they are all the same) and the lower rim of my glasses would be crammed with black mascara flakes which are impossible to be cleaned out unless you take out the lenses to scrub clean because the flakes weld themselves to the edges of the lenses and I've been told, do not come away easily. Luckily my opticians are happy to do this-or what they can of it, but it's very frustrating and it's not always easy to find the time and a branch where they can deal with mascara flakes! L'Oreal is another brand which is similar.
Worst brands for removing easily are (in my experience) Benefit OR L'Oreal. No amount of leaving a warmed cotton wool pad soaked in Micellular solution helped, and in the end it's a bit at a time approach and takes forever!

If money were no object, I'd opt for Lancôme for mascara or failing that, Clinique as they don't flake, are one of the easiest mascaras to remove in my experience. I've not tried every mascara out there and I know that you were looking to save money, but I also know both these brands offer sample sizes and sometimes will have freebies or trade in's so if you sign up to their mailing list and keep your eye out you never know.

I have the same problem. My daughter tells me that Chanel is best but looking at the Boots offering they all seem to be volumising which is exactly what I don't want, and at £26 very pricey. I just want a plain black waterproof mascara, otherwise black bits appear on the lens of my glasses after an hour or two!

Thanks everyone for your suggestion, especially Jenniewb for her long post. I went into Boots and tried a couple (a Loreal and Smashbox) but both had flaked by the end of the evening. I have used Clinique and Maybelline with Clinique flaking a little and Maybelline clumping and flaking off. I will keep trying.

Hi, I use two mascaras and neither of them flake, I have used them for years and I love them. The one I use for adding length to my lashes is the Maybelline Great Lash BIG Mascara and the one I use for volume is the L'Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes So Couture mascara. That one is AMAZING!!! Cannot express how good it is.
If you are okay with spending a bit more money on a mascara, I do use the Estee Lauder Sumptuous Lifting Mascara which is also very good.
I hope one of these works for you :)

I use Blink mascara and found it doesn't flake. It's the only thing my super sensitive eyes will behave with. Anything else flakes causing tears to roll down my cheeks. Not a great look!
  • Second Blink mascara

I'm highly sensitive to cosmetics and any other mascara would give me panda eyes in seconds ( and having small set eyes in the first place wasn't the look I needed)

Blink is the only mascara I can wear which stays and doesn't shed

You won't get huge lashes with it, but it does make lashes look a lot better

I have huge problems with running mascaras - I'll tell you what doesn't work for me, Lancôme, Dior, Bobbi brown, clarins, Chanel, doll 10, mally. IT mascara,

What does, benefit they're real & rollerlash, some Tarte mascaras (the double ended ones) & some L'Or!al double extend mascaras (not the fibre one or the movie star one). The Blue & white waterproof one works too well, it's like bloody superglue on the eyelashes!!!! Bare minerals lash domination. Revitalash.

Blinc works, but I hate the way it removes, same with the red tube or L'Or!al double extend.
