Mortgage with 5 year old unpaid defaults. Please help!

People are 'judging' you because you seem naïve and desperate.
You have a pending CCJ you are desperately trying to put on hold because youre convinced if you can rush your mortgage through it will magically count for nothing.
Youre saying everywhere else youre planning to move in 6 weeks, you've given notice, and you don't have a mortgage offer.
You've flitted between will Natwest/Halifax take me depending on what thread youre on, because of your defaults.
Youre saying your credit score shows how mature you are, but youre not paying debts because you think its not going to impact you now, so why should you? Very mature.0 -
I have en advised not to pay by my broker, but maybe it would be better if I just paid them all off. That way when I make the mortgage application I can tell them I was not aware of them until recently. I made mistakes 5 years ago but I haven't borrowed anything and not paid it back for over 5 years! I have paid my £650 rent on time every month for 6 years solid and they can see this also, so I am not at all a risk!
you are at risk because you don't pay your debts, with a CCJ to come, it does not look good. You had sadly buried your head in the sand regarding your debts and credit file, this is reality and your broker is giving you false hope and giving bad advice, all so they can get a fee perhaps?"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

My broker has said he will definitely get us a mortgage. Only wanted a bit of reassurance on here but seem to have a lot of people judging me and not being very helpful.
I will report back when I get the mortgage...
Also, as the CJ notice is VERY recent, and you said 'dredged up possibly because of recent activity' does your broker even know you've got a court claim due?
Instead of asking for it to be put on hold (and why would they after this many years...) why don't you use the money you said is available to pay, but why should you, to stop the CCJ?0 -
You really shouldn't pay so much attention to what your broker tells you, they are a mortgage broker not a debt counsellor."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

are you able to retract your notice?
I am a mortgage broker myself and even if you get a mortgage offer really quickly the timescale for conveyancing can be anything. I have had cases go through in 4 weeks, typically 3 months and some 6 months+ - chains fall apart, documents can't be found e.g. fensa and building reg certs and have to be reapplied for, people disagree on moving in dates. Regardless of whether your broker thinks he can get you a mortgage to hand in your notice before even applying for a mortgage is just going to set you up for a load of stress. When do you have to be out by? I hope you have a plan b e.g. moving in with parents as no amount of telling the chain they have to complete by x date will make it happen if the solicitors aren't readyI am a Mortgage Adviser

We had an agreement in principle from Halifax. They declined us on full application as I had an outstanding default from 5 years ago.Proud to be dealing with my debts0

they do a full credit check before offer and may do before completion, don't waste your time OP, hit the debt free wannabee forums and hit that debt.
I hope you know owning a house/flat has responsibilities, do you know how much a new boiler or ongoing maintenance cost? New roof e.t.c?"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

I have spent a lifetime in banking including may years working in credit departments - frankly unpaid debts (as opposed to discharged bankruptcies etc) would be a non-starter and I would happily short the hell out of the shares of any bank who would lend on this basis.
Yes it might be 5 years ago....but a mortgage is 25+ years. It is a matter of intent - if one is not prepared (as opposed to unable) to honour ones current/past obligations, then there is little reassurance about what might happen in the future.0 -
OP - just counted it and you posted the same issue 5 (five) times! Here and on debt free wannabe. In some posts you talk about unsettled defaults, in others about your pending CCJ, etc. As much as people here are trying to help you, it seems that nothing is good enough and you're not exactly honest in any of the threads, as some of the info is always missing.
