Has Anyone Tried Poundstretcher For Groceries?

Options
I was just wondering how many people have tried poundstretcher for groceries?
Fair enough, you can't do a full week's shop, but I find them really handy for
OXO cubes, chicken or beef -for 99p
Campbells condensed soup - for 39p
Crosse & Blackwell condensed soup - for 29p
Adritt dishwasher tabs 20 for 99p

They also do dog food quite cheap, but the above are the things I go in for.

Its been a long time since I've been in a Poundstrecher, but as you've reminded me of their existance and Crimbo is on its way, I may take a drive down.

Has been ages since i was in poundstretcher but i do buy coffee and tea-bags from wilkos £1.89 for a 200g jar of nescafe which is the cheapest i have found and usually 100 t-bags (typhoo or pg tips) for 99p i am finding that more stores are adding a grocery range home bargains have just recently opened in our area and they sell a good range of stuff.

We have a Poundland in the town centre that stocks some bargains in groceries, but the range does fluctuate. Can usually get biscuit packs, sweets and chocolates there!

I find the problem with these bargain shops is that some things are a bargain and some things aren't, and I can't tell which is which.

For example, I always used to get my sweets for the car from Poundland, thinking they must be cheap because they're in Poundland, until my son pointed out that they were much cheaper in Home Bargains.

For me, it's too confusing and takes up too much time.

It's called Instore here now, but yes they have also started doing some groceries, only downside I have found particularly is most stuff has a shot date. Was some Allinson yeast for about 29p which is cheap, but only a months date on it.

When it comes to prices and where I find a price book helps, I have a little note book with prices in of things I buy in different shops, then I can see if it's a bargain or not.
One day I might be more organised...........

I bought 3 bottles of Pepsi for £1, thought it was a good deal, BUT it doesn't taste the same as UK version as it is from Georgia (was part of the USSR, not USA State).

I saw this last week, DH got Prince's Beef Paste which he loves, 3 large jars for a pound. There seemed to be quite a few good buys. Worth a look.
  • most food in £ stores are short-dated, meaning that the BBF dates are almost due. WOrth buying only if you plan on eating them right away, but not worth it otherwise.

Yes, that can be true, but the oxo cubes I bought yesterday are dated aug08, and the tins of condensed soup are sep08. Usually the tinned stuff is a'right.
