advice required, being as vague as I can
Joined a company, given one wage with the promise of a sizeable increase after probation, both amounts are listed in the contract.
probation finished over 2 months ago (was told everything was fine - very happy) and this wasn't adjusted because 'procedural reviews had to take place'. every time it was kicked down the road I pushed asking if there was issues to be told 'its all fine' (this from management and senior managers).
Im dragged into a meeting room to be told A I have a job, B we aren't going to pay you what we agreed because we don't think youre there. When I pointed out the assurances I was told 'very happy with your work and level - no problems there, no issues have been raised'. Meeting included the statement, I could sign you off probation tomorrow providing you agree to the wage.
It just feels like they were going to screw me over from day 1, aside from dust off my CV - any clue as to what to do.

Find another job. Or accept it. No other choices unless you were given an absolute guarantee of the highest amount. In which case you can sue them for the difference until they sack you, which will be immediately after you start proceedings.0

On the face of it, it does seem as if they have reneged on a commitment, but there is little you can do to force them to pay the extra. I'd do as you are suggesting, dust off the CV and get out as soon as you can. If they are like this now, it's unlikely they will get any better.0
