Where and what your Dad posted will tell their own story. A private message, that starts with the addressees name is one thing, but a post on a website that is accessible to any signed up member that starts with a rant is obviously meant for 'public' viewing, and the more inflammatory the message, the more obvious intent that it be seen widely.

I don't think your Dad will have any success arguing that he was naive.

I would, in mitigation, only suggest that he was horrified by the allegations against a colleague, and allowed his personal feelings about this sort of crime, which he now recognises was an overreaction to the situation, that it overruled his good sense. He recognises the very difficult position his employers were on, and in hindsight recognises their actions were measured and proportionate. He is so sorry, he should have thought about things before posting, but he didn't .... And then grovel as much as he can.


Oh, and assuming he isn't the President of the USA, whether it works or not, confiscate his phones, lap tops and computers. Only one person in the world is allowed to be this stupid at a time, and the position is already taken!

It was a bit ambiguous at first, but I think the position is actually the reverse of that.

..means that by "casting scorn on the crime" he was actually downplaying the crime and saying the company were disgraceful for suspending and not paying the employee.

This forum is "about" whatever gets posted/ Unless you are a moderator you don't get a say in that. If you don't like my opinions, then there is a facility to not see them. Use it. Otherwise you will continue to see a lot of my opinions you don't like.

And anyone who doesn't think that employment issues and the political stage are intertwined irrevocably doesn't understand the state of the world.

I didn't say whether I liked them or not, I said they were irrelevant to the OP's question, and I maintain that to be the case.

I think thats his best hope. "never thought of it bringing the company in to disrepute, it was an inflammatory situation that i stupidly commented on, feelings were running high, i regret doing it, i realise it was a mistake and am very regretful", etc.

But is your dad capable of doing that sincerely? I'm suspecting not....

Yes, that was in the post above. Sangie made a throwaway joke. Making jokes about the President of the USA isn't even political, it's accepted to mock the powerful. You made it political by leaping in to defend the racist orange buffoon.

I think you'll find he DIDNT defend Trump? He merely said that it was irrelevant to the thread? Presumably to stop the thread being derailed like you're doing with it now?
