Online shopping and debt hell

Hi, this is my first time posting, so not entirely sure I'm doing this right.
I need help please.
I don't have any credit cards, but I have 2 catalogues that I can't seem to clear. And I am Constantly my in the red by the middle of the month. I'm am very depressed by all this.
I have recently come out of a treatment centre for alcoholism and I can't seem to get myself back in track.
I work full time and I don't have a lot of money. I have 2 children and my husband works away with the Army.
I have debt from being in the treatment centre and I can only afford minimum payments on my catalogues and the amount never seems to budge. I have looked into these 0% credit cards but I don't really know what I'm doing. I just need some advice to help me get sorted. So any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

Speak to Stepchange, the National Debtline, or any debt charity for advice.
Simply put, you need to stop buying things on credit, and find ways to balance the books.
For specific help you need to provide an SOA (Statement of Affairs, can be found on the stoozing site, format it for MSE) and we can help with any areas that can be tweaked.
Use the MSE eligibility calculator to see if any 0% cards you may be able to get. Make sure the store cards can be balance transferred though, otherwise apply for a money transfer card and pay them off with cash.
In debt and looking for help? Look here for the MSE Debt Help Guide.
Also, If you need any free and impartial debt advice, the National Debtline, Stepchange, and the CAB can help.0 -
Hi Cazyp
I’m sorry to hear you’ve been having a difficult time, but well done on taking steps to deal with your debts. There will be options to help. StopIt is quite right, your next step is to complete a SOA http://www.stoozing.com/calculator/soa.php. This will help the board understand your financial situation and advise on your next steps.
If you’re already struggling with the debts you have, consolidating with credit cards may not be a good option and often leads to you falling further into debt. What you may be able to do is negotiate a reduced payment plan and freeze on interest, either yourself or through a free debt management company, or an insolvency option which would get the debt written off.
We’ll know more once you’ve completed your SOA or you can contact one of the free debt advice agencies directly. Good luck with it all.
