Hi, I've only just noticed that my domain provider 1&1 have been deducting bills from my Paypal every couple of months for random amounts. I used to only pay a yearly bill of around £30 but have just been receiving invoices of around £19 and then others of up to £50. I'm really confused and it looks like they are charging me for an added service I never agreed to. I wondered if anyone else has had bad experience with them? I did a quick google search and have seen they've scammed a lot of people like this and i could only find one post on this site about them: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/54391949#Comment_54391949 and also I found this: http://community.screwfix.com/threads/1-and-1-hosting-beware.181935/
Their website is very confusing so I don't know if I have signed up for something by mistake?
I've booked a phone call from their call centre in about half an hour but I feel worried about what to say as I feel dumb founded. Since the beginning of this year alone I have already paid £146.45!! !!!!!!!! Should I act quick and transfer my domain and cancel the DD before they take anymore money? I'm scared after reading a lot of really negative reviews that they're con artists and will con me out of more money.

I don't know about 1 & 1, not a customer. But do not cancel a DD, you may unknowingly be into a contract and not paying could bring a lot of grief to your door, including a trashed credit rating
See what you are into first. Are you aware the prices of all domains increased across the board, by Nominet?Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
From reading all the stories about 1and1 I don't want them to keep taking more money from me so I cancelled my paypal payments. My credit rating is already really bad so I don't have anything to lose. They appear to renew domains without approval and I seem to be in a new contract for another 2 years that I didn't sign for!0

1&1 make it very clear they auto renew domains.

I've been with 1&1 for years and found them very reliable.
It's good that you have been getting invoices, as you can clearly see what you have been paying for.
Most people want their domain to be renewed, rather than lose it; just doing that wouldn't cost an unexpected £146.0 -
As above 1&1 no extras on my bill and they have been billing me and a million others for a long time .0

See my reply to your post in the small business forum, not sure why you posted twice. Another long time satisfied 1&1 customer.0

apologies for the cross posting. I wasn't sure where to post then someone suggested posting on the small biz forum.0

We do not have an account with 1and1 internet, but several odd payments of about £25 appeared on our credit card statement over a couple of months. Eventually got to the bottom of it - fraudulent activity by third party. 1and1 internet were helpful, money was refunded. So, I would talk to 1and1 - seems ours was not an isolated case then...!0
