QapQuest and invisible debt

Hi
I am writing because my dad just received a letter from a company called QapQuest which stands that he has over £200 debt. There is his full name on it as well as his account number and other details(I will see this letter tonight). The thing is my dad never took a loan, never had a debt, everything that he ever bought was bought for cash. I am not really sure where we should go and ask for help, the bank as it seems to be fraud or go straight to citizen advice? The letter was also saying that they sent him a letter last month but he never received it. Has anyone else had similar case? Thank you for response.

As far as I can tell, QapQuest does not exist. CapQuest is a debt management company that typically buys up old debts and then chases the debtor.

If they have his details correct then it probably has some factual basis - something which he has forgotten about, maybe.

It would be best to hold off doing anything at all until you've seen the content of the letter. It may that the debt is actually out of date (statute barred), or it may be that the letter does not say exactly what the original debt was - in which case you should ask them (in writing) for complete details of the original loan/debt. If they cannot provide this then they don't have a case.
