Delay repay

Options
Is there a website that allows you to confirm when particular trains arrived at certain stations?

We were booked on the 16:00 departing Norwich (9th August) to go to the World Athletics Championships at Stratford. The train was cancelled so we had to catch the 16:30, but rather than being direct (like the 16:00) the later train had a connection at Colchester. This delayed us further, and then, we had an additional delay just before Stratford because "no platforms were available" (a common occurrence at Stratford according to other passengers).

I just want to confirm what time we would have arrived at Stratford last Wednesday and how late we were. Stupidly, I was so busy complaining with other passengers that I didn't note the time of arrival myself!

Fortunately we didn't miss any of the main programme, but we did miss the Botswanan athlete doing his solo time trial for the 200m after food poisoning.

The TOC was Greater Anglia, but I don't know if the Colchester to Stratford leg is one of theirs or not.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, thanks.

Here you go - these are the actual departures from Colchester on 9 August. Your train to Stratford would have been one of the Liverpool Street ones. If you click on a train it will then show the actual times against the scheduled times.

Colchester to Stratford/Liverpool Street is Greater Anglia as well.

OK. If I follow that website correctly the cancelled 16:00 was due into Stratford at 17:45 but we would actually have arrived via Colchester at 18:34, some 49 minutes late. (Edit: sounds about right as I recall).

    Thank you.
  • After being made aware of an impending delay later in the day on the return journey I chose to take a later service on the way back. The train I waited for got cancelled(it is not on Real Time Trains)and joined to form the 19:00 service.
As the train on my intended third leg of the journey was cancelled(as previously advised) and ran empty back to my home service can I claim delay repay for arriving 90 mins later than I would have?
If I had caught the 18:02 hours service I would have waited 2 hours at my final change station. But I chose to split the hanging around bit and have 30 mins and then 60 mins instead.

PS the change from my incoming service to catch the 18:02 was 2 mins, would they believe I was able to make the connection up stairs over the platform and to the end of it's platform>

Full details of each service please so minimum connection times can be checked.
  • From Platform 4 to Platform 2 at Newport. I got off at 18:00 and the departing train was timetabled to depart at 18:02.
I could have made it but chose not to as I knew about the subsequent cancellation, which is confirmed on real time trains as Empty Stock(No Guard)
I'm reluctant to give to much information as it's not usual for Staff to give possible cancellations so far in advance and I don't wish for them to get into trouble or for this practice to stop. And information I give here could easily identify them.
