Just had a chat with a client I helped 2 years ago and said I must mention this on a forum lol!

Classic case of optimism delivering prosperity, whilst doomers all around said / say it's impossible for FTBs to get on the ladder / that they wont make money the way boomers did.

They (a couple) came to me with 10% deposit and bought a house near Windsor for £330k (agreed about 30 months ago). Has spent a lot of time doing it up. Just had it valued at £700k

Totally ordinary couple and no not a high earners, most anyone can do these things but so many are held back by pessimism

Only needed a £300k mortgage. Nothing unusual in that.......
  • With stock markets at all time highs and early signs of consumer spending weakness (recent results from Greene King, Fulham Shore), it probably wise to sell parts of stock portfolio and increase your cash holdings.
