Hi

I understand you get certain benefits if you are on Mat leave- including free dental check ups.

Do you get free hygienist appointments and fillings or is it just check ups?

is there anything else mat leavers are entitled to?

    If you need dental work done fillings they will be free. Escentual work only.

    Hygienist I do not think so.

    You get free NHS dental treatment.

    So if it's NHS, you don't pay the NHS fee.

    If you're seen privately, or it's a private option you are having - then you'd still pay.

    It's more than just 'on maternity leave' too. It's from conception (or when it's confirmed and you get whatever you get to confirm you're pregnant), to 1 year after birth of child.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
