I'm just a little confused right now about which path to take..
I'm currently at university and next month will be going into my third and final year. Finances since the first year have been very difficult to me and I've had to rely solely on support from my family due to Student Finance and their ways. But I won't get into that rant now.
I started my first ever paid job as a Christmas temp in the Royal Mail sorting centre, towards the end of last year. I really enjoyed it and was disappointed I couldn't stay there. After this I found a permanent position for another reputable courier service, though the job didn't work out.
I've been on a job hunt since April and I've had no such luck really until the last few weeks. My local snooker centre has offered me a trial shift and interview which will be tomorrow. I feel that the low hours will give me more time for university and it does seem like a chilled out job, but I don't know if I can live from the low wage.
Although I was planning on taking the job until I was offered an interview for another courier service tomorrow as well. I've worked in two warehouse environments, one I loved, one I hated so there's the fear that I won't enjoy it, but there's more hours and I've often heard that they pay very well. It might just be what I need to get back on my feet and then at least if I stay there then I have a job to tie me over until I find something once I've finished university, and it also might be something I can progress upwards in too, although I've had an interview here for another job role a few months ago which I didn't pass.
I'm not forced to get either jobs but I'm trying to stay positive. I don't know if to just take a simple and chilled out bar job, with no prior experience of bar work, or a job with more hours, higher pay but will be a lot more full on and demanding

Well it's personal preference, but if it were me, I'd go for the full on job.
Plenty of time to be relaxed and chilled when you get old.0 -
The sorting centre job sounds a bit more difficult to get so my instinct would be to take that one. If you decide you've made a mistake and need a more casual job to fit around university, just quit and take one. Pubs and bars are always hiring students.0

I enjoyed my trial shift in the bar but it was also very boring. Had some good banter with some builders who came in but I couldn't see myself working in a place like that with not much to do, I like to keep busy. But I had a phone call that I got the warehouse job so I hope it all goes well!

Why not have both ? And find something useful to do while you aren't serving drinks.0
