international wire transfers

Hey,

I have to pay some money by international wire transfer, I have the address, acc number, swift code, iban number, bank etc, but I don't understand any of it, furthermore I am supposed to pay in EUR. I am well confused, does anyone know what I have got to do

Usually you cannot do this online. I think you should phone your bank of visit a branch. This is a Barcalys' booklet (for example):

P.S. Yes, this is not the cheapest way to send money abroad...

A little more non- personal information, such as the country the money is to go to, approximate value, is it to be a one off payment or could it become regular, could help in getting ideas.

Well i'm going on a summer scheme in Prague, Czech Republic and they said I have to pay it into there bank account etc. It is a one off payment

Just take the information you have been given to your bank and they will make the payment on your behalf and debit your account with the sterling equivalent, plus charges. I would advise you to go in person, banks will not accept these instructions over the phone or by fax.

Hi Sab,

You should be able to do this through several brokers for a good price (better than banks). i have used HIFX and they did a great job - they will buy the currency for you at a price they state over the phone and hold it till you send them back a form with bank acc details of where funds are to go - and then they'll send it to the destination account.
