How best to extract the juice from fresh ginger?

I have some digestive problems and so make up a mix to take before meals which includes ginger juice and I was wondering if anyone knew a more efficient way of extracting it from the root?

At the moment, I peel a lump, grate it into a bowl (which also catches any spare juice) and then squeeze the grated bits in an old garlic crusher (which I keep especially for this). It's all a bit of a faff! :(

Does anyway have a better way of doing it?
