Silver chain repair

Hi, today my favourite silver chain broke. I've had it for 14 years and wore it daily. It wasn't very expensive but was a gift from a relative so has got sentimental value.
One of the rings (right next to the clasp) broke.
How much would it cost to have it repaired? I not have much money spare so don't want to pay through my nose. I looked at some prices online (mostly big jewellery stores) and the prices seem a bit too high (£50+).
PS: I'm no good with DIY so soldering it myself is not an option (not to mention that I don't have any of the tools anyway) and I don't know anyone who can either.

Is there not an independent local jeweller you can take it to? Parent's had several chains repaired and it was nowhere near that much.
Take it in and ask - it's nit committing you to anything.
Alternatively, is there a repair cafe in your area? They just ask for a donation and you can put in how much you like. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
As it is next to the clasp it may be easily fixable with a jump ring and not need soldering, unless the broken ring is a big solid one and the chain will be too short without it. Do you have a bead shop you can take it to? They will have the bits much cheaper than a jeweller and if it is quiet are usually happy to show you how to use them or help you do so.But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.
