CAPQUEST help

Hi all,
Hoping you can give me some advice.
Received a letter from Capquest chasing a debt from MBNA. Amount of £1948 but letter says they will accept payment of £588 but has to be paid within 3 months.
Now I do recall having a debt with MBNA but I was young and silly at the time and I'm 90% sure I haven't had any correspondence with them in over 6 years.
What steps can I take here? Do I go straight in with the statute barred or request any info regarding the debt?
I have literally just been accepted for a credit this last month after many years of bad credit rating and joined credit reference agency. Find it strange alll of a sudden chasing a debt.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I'd go straight in with the statute barred letter and see what reaction that gets.

Thanks for your reply sourcrates.
Sorry I'm new here. Is there a good template letter on this site to use?
