Missed theatre show due to train cancellations

I'm not sure if this is the right forum or not, please let me know if not.
Last night we missed a theatre show in London due to all trains being cancelled for two hours, there was no other feasible route to get us there.
Unfortunately we didn't take See Tickets additional insurance but we did pay on credit card.
Is there any way we can get some of the money back that we paid for the tickets? It's £170 so I'm really gutted

Given that insurance was offered but not taken I can't see that it's likely that your claim will be successful, but it's probably worth the cost of an envelope and a stamp to try. I take it you don't have travel insurance with a bank account? I don't think your credit card issuer will be able to help.0

You could make a compliant they may refund you as a guesture of goodwill.
There is a similar situation in a case study here:
